Member Location: Raytown, MO | I thought I would share some pictures of my latest modification. I have been meaning to get around to doing this for over a year and finally did it this weekend. I decided to go with a Hunter Model #44157 from Wally World. It was $24.00 bucks. I waved back and forth on getting a programmable one and the non-programmable one for a few bucks less. I am glad I got the programmable one. For example, this weekend it got pretty cold (34F) at night, and I programed it to let the camper fall to 65F while we were sleeping, then at 7:30AM I had it bring the trailer back up to 70F when we got up. It worked perfect! I have a feeling this summer it will not be able to swing the AC up and down like that very quickly, but I am adding a second AC so it should do a fair job I think. I chose the Hunter over the Honeywell because I can program the span setting. Meaning the thermostat is precise to 1 degree. I can alter that to zero or 3 degrees to keep the AC from cycling on and off a bunch plus this thermostat has compressor protection that will not let it cycle on and off within 3 1/2 minutes. I have a DuoTherm AC and Suburban Furnace. Here is my old T-Stat wiring: Here is the Hunter after wiring. Notice the screw holes from the old T-Stat worked for this one! No new holes in the wall! Blue and Brown wire- G Post (This is the high low on the fan. I never use low so I wired them together for always on high. A toggle switch could be installed if you wanted to be able to switch between Hi/Low) Green wire - RC Yellow wire (AC) - Y Post White wire (Furnace) - W Post Red Wire 7.5 Volts -Not used-Double electrical taped and taped up and out of the way. Here it is after install, leveling, and programing. I choose this one also because since it has to run on batteries, I wanted to be able to access them without having to remove it from the wall plate (ease of use for the DW) Finished! I also chose this one because of the backlight! All in all, it took me about 15 minutes from start to finish! I really wish I had done this install last year!
